CIRCULATION
The very most important principle of “prevention” is circulation. (Blood circulation) No matter if it is the flu or any other condition or whether one is trying to achieve overall health. To establish immunological competency, circulation reigns as the king of all precepts relative to self health care.

What do we mean by circulation? In essence, we mean “thin blood” that is easy for the heart to circulate through the organs and circulatory system without any obstruction. Many people who are experiencing health problems that “show out” as chronic infections, tiredness, fatigue, drowsiness, achy joints and muscles, foggy brain, or chronic diseases such as lyme, cancer, emphysema, asthma, arthritis, or heart disease begin to develop a condition known as hyper coagulation. This is sometimes “subclinical”. At other times it can be defined precisely by the appropriate blood screening. The blood becomes more viscose or thick and sticky. A condition where the red blood cells begin to link like chains (rouleau) and stack up like coins or pennies in a roll. At this point, it is very difficult to establish proper oxygenation to the organs and tissues of the body.

This condition is not uncommon and in fact is very common with people who are not experiencing optimum health.

HYDRATION (The Basics)
The first consideration to maintain optimum circulation is proper hydration with pure, clean, water. The minimum amount for any person above the age of twelve is 1 quart; up to 2 quarts, which is recommended for people who can easily drink this amount. This is on a daily basis. Medicinal teas can be used in addition to this clean water. Medicinal teas are typically, traditionally prepared from herbs. In order to become hydrated one has to maintain this regime on a daily basis. There are many books of this subject and there are many ways to research this very fundamental principle on the internet, in the bookstore or at the library. This is natural life and fundamental principle of maintaining life no matter who you are or where you are. Hydration can be a complex subject, but the basic and fundamental pieces can be intuitively understood.

AGES OLD ANTIVIRAL REMEDY (A Huge Ounce of Prevention)
This is a highly important tool that can be used to treat for preexisting viral conditions or the bird flu, swine flu, or influenza. It is an egg yolk, lecithin and apple juice drink to be used once daily, preferably in the morning before breakfast, but can be used almost anytime of day.

This regimen is to be done fourteen days on; five days off. Generally thru three cycles. Sometimes additional cycles if there is a persistent viral condition.

Viral Shake
1 egg yolk
2 Tablespoons nonGMO lecithin
8 ounces of apple, pear or grape juice

Stir all ingredients with a fork to blend. Drink immediately.
*Use farm fresh free range or organic eggs, if possible.

This “folk medicine” is not to be underestimated. This drink seems to attract viruses into the lecithin and egg yolk. The method of action has not been precisely understood. We think this happens by drawing out any preexisting viruses from the cells. (Continue with hydration to support your body.) This drink can be used as a preventative measure against viruses. A complete immunological lab test will show most individuals already carry numerous pathogenic viruses in their cells on a day to day basis. This is a scientific fact. There are few known allopathic drugs to prescribe as a preventative. The upcoming flu vaccines to be issued to the general public can not always guarantee immunity. Therefore, the shake and similar approaches in the “age old” role of natural medicine, “folk medicine or kitchen chemistry” that our grandparents and their parents lived by are appropriate to investigate.

Cleanse the blood by supporting the intestines
Saurkraut or Kim Chi, a traditional Korean preparation made of fermented vegetables and spices are one of the greatest blood cleansers known to man. They are very potent immune builders and “blood cleansers”. There is evidence that people who eat Kim Chi are not as susceptible to the bird, swine flu or influenza. As well, sauerkraut, both raw and cooked, allows the same cleansing and “blood purifying” benefits.

It is not necessary to use “raw”. However it is our experience “raw” provides a more potent array of enzymes and cleansing properties. Sauerkraut (in any form), is beneficial when taken on a daily basis. Six tablespoons or more is typically used in a traditional, cultural setting alone or with meals. Kim Chi and sauerkraut recipes are available on the internet; typically they can be made in a few days by the quart, gallon or five gallons. It is easy, self preserving.

On a long term basis kim chi/sauerkraut or fermented vegetables is perhaps the most powerful single weapon one can use to prevent influenza from taking hold in the body.
These fermented vegetable are a potent tonic for building proper intestinal health. Which means to say the army of probiotic friendly bacteria that exists within the large and small intestines are propoligated by these fermented vegetable preparations. It is also of note the intestines are the source of 50% fixed macrophage immune cell population of the body, as well as there are many adult stem cells and other immune factors based in the intestinal track.

Although Kim Chi is not in itself antiviral, it’s powerful cleansing action in the small and large intestine indirectly allows the blood to become purified and free of toxins and thereby allowing the immune system to become fully optimized.

Many fermented foods have a powerful cleansing effect on the body, as well as other cultured foods such as dairy “kefirs”, preferably raw goat or cow, sheep or water grain kefirs, kombucha teas, miso, garlic, etc... • Vinegar and Honey Tonic
For digestive health, a body cleanser and wonderful energizer the Vinegar & Honey tonic has been used for hundreds of years. If both ingredients are raw, the method of action which is not quite understood, benefits people suffering from digestive distress, fatigue and even sleep disorders. Old timers profess to its’ offering of longevity. At the cellular level, the method of action is unknown. But over time it is proven to be very effective in boosting digestive function and powerful immunology in many individuals.

Vinegar and Honey Tonic
1 to 3 teaspoons raw cider vinegar
1 to 2 teaspoons of honey
8 ounces of warm water

* Stir all ingredients together. Typically taken between or before meals.

Antiviral Herbs (There are many!)
Other potent antivirals that also assist in numerous immune functions and enhancement are Echinacea and Olive Leaf, taken on a daily basis when influenza risks are high. They are scientifically known to be antiviral and a strong weapon against bacterial and fungal infection as well. Scientific information can researched on the internet, to clarify more about these herbs and other antiviral herbs. Olive Leaf is a natural, potent and nontoxic antibiotic, antiviral substance.

Other Antiviral Herbs to research: feverfew, garlic, capsaicin, aloe, elder, astragulus, peppermint, goldenrod, juniper, lemon balm, licorice and ginger.

Antiviral Broth
If one does contract a virus, the following onion broth soup can be easily made in twenty minutes. The onion broth eases flu symptoms dramatically over a 24-48 hour period.

Onion Broth Soup
2 yellow onions, Peeled and cut into fourths or by sixths
2 Quart of water
4-6 Tablespoons raw, organic honey, optional

Boil the onions in the water for 20 minutes. Remove from heat.
After slight cooling down and while still warm, add 4-6 tablespoons of honey.
Stir and then store in glass jars.
In the beginning, drink 1 cup every 30-60 minutes.
After 12 hours, drink 1 cup every 2 -4 hours.

If more people are to be served, the amounts need to be adjusted.

• Antiviral Essential Oils (Science and antiquity converge)
Other useful techniques are essential oils of various herbal substances. The most common are oregano, rosemary, thyme, frankincense, coriander, sage and others. The essential oils need to come from a pharmacy that can state or show that the oils have been made free of chemical solvents. Essential oils have been extensively researched for their antiviral, antibacterial properties in a scientific setting for many decades. The proper use of these oils is not only important for the treatment of influenza, but also for many other infectious or inflammatory conditions.

Gelatin Capsules are prepared by adding 1-3 drops of essential oil into an empty capsule. Then use a small dropper to fill the remainder of the capsule with of olive oil. 15-20 capsules can be prepared ahead and stored in a jar. Each member of the family can have 1 capsule, two to three times daily. It is important to note no more than 2 drops of any oil would be used for a child in a capsule and it is best to be taken with a meal so there is no sensation of burning.
